IN THE SPOTLIGHT
DULCE
This week’s Spotlight feature is Dulce, and she can’t wait to be a force to be dealt with around the world. Dulce has that something special that every photographer loves to see, and that every modeling agency hopes will walk through their doors. Dulce is also proof that hard work does pay off, and you can’t judge a book by its cover. Congratulations to Dulce as this week’s Spotlight Feature.
He Did It Again
BOBBY YOUNG
Ladies and gentlemen, Bobby Young, better known as, King Domino Duck had done it again. He won twenty-straight Domino games in Kissimmee, FL.
P.S. There’s a big game between King Domino Duck and Mr. Skipper and his buddy, Mr. Will, coming soon (What A War).
Commissioners Say No To Privatizing Probation Services
According to County Com- missioner Les Miller, there absolutely will be no privatiza- tion of the administration of probation services by the county.
“That’s not going to happen. It was a committee that made that recommendation, and we decided it wouldn’t make sense to go in that direction.
“After a discussion, we de- cided to ask Sheriff David Gee to make a presentation and send a proposal to us on the cost of them handling probation services. As of October 1st, the Salvation Army will no longer have that task.”
Comm. Miller said they want Sheriff Gee to send in a proposal to see if they can do it, and that needs to happen before October 1st.
“Nothing will change in the way probation services are de- livered or the makeup of the staff.”
Comm. Miller said it may prove cost effective to let the Sheriff’s Office run probation services.
Tampa International Airport Changing Custodial Services
Tampa International Air- port Media spokesperson, Emily Nipps, said they have decided not to renew their con- tract with the company that has been providing the air- port’s custodial services for the past five years.
Nipps said because of a new RFP process that will raise minority participation in the bidding process for the con- tracts, Triangle services will be replaced by Flagship Services, beginning October 1st.
“Currently, there are 120 full time and 90 part time cus- todial employees at the airport. Before we agreed to give the
contract to Flagship Services, they had to commit to hiring as many of the Triangle personnel as possible.
“We expect most of the Tri- angle staff to be retained by Flagship, because that would just make fiscal sense in allevi- ating the need for them to train new personnel.”
Nipps said it’s also a good thing because a minority sub- contractor out of Altamonte Springs, Florida Cleaning Services, will be working with Flagship.
“We really don’t anticipate anyone losing their job over this transition,” said Nipps.
