Tampa Church To Hold Prayer Vigil For Charlottesville Incident

On Saturday, a group of White supremacists held a “Unite the Right’ march in Charlottesville, Virginia. A group of anti White su- premacists also assembled. At some point during the event, taunting led to shov- ing, and the event turned violent.
Several of those in atten- dance became engaged in a brawl. Then, at 1:45 p.m., the driver of a vehicle plowed into the group of counter protesters. In its af- termath, one person, Ms. Heather D. Heyer, 32, was killed. Ms. Heyer was a resident of Charlottesville and worked as a paralegal.
Additionally, at least 19 other people were injured. At least 34 people were wounded in the clashes that took place. Governor Terry McAuliffe declared a state of emergency.
Police have identified 20- year-old James Alex Fields, Jr., as the driver of the vehicle. He was arrested and has been charged with

several crimes. Fields re- portedly lived in Maumee, Ohio, which is near Toledo.
In response to this tragedy, Rev. Dr. Glenn Dames, pastor of Allen Temple AME Church and his congregation will hold a Prayer Vigil at the church.
The Prayer Vigil will take place at the church, 2101 N. Lowe Street, Wednesday, August 16th, beginning at 7 p.m.

“Additionally, two state police officers monitoring the protest were killed when their helicopter crashed to the ground.
“As a community of faith, it is important that we speak up and speak out against this type of vio- lence. It is clear to most people that this was an act of domestic terrorism. God has called us to be a voice and a conduit; to spread love in the face of hate. We are asking the community to join us for a Prayer Vigil. This event is open to the public,” Rev. Dr. Dames said.

Reunion Of Salon’s Former Employees Planned
On Thursday, August 17th, former members of Bossa Nova Hair Salon will host a meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss plans for the reunion of all past employees and hair styl- ists.
