Naval Officer Continues His Career Path
MANAMA, Bahrain --- While participating in the festivities of the Navy’s 242nd Anniversary, a Tampa native decided to continue his mili- tary career by renewing his commitment. The oath of en- listment was administered to Air Traffic Controller Petty Officer 1st Class Aaron Kish. The oath was adminis- tered by his uncle, Com- mander Ronald Kish, Officer in Charge of Norfolk Air Mobility Command Ter- minal. The ceremony took place at the Naval Ball at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

my re-enlisting officer.”
He looks at his uncle as more than family. He views him as a mentor and role model. Commander Kish began his 31-year-long naval career in 1986 when he en- listed. Over the past three decades, he climbed to the rank of petty officer 2nd class before being commissioned
in the Navy Supply Corps, earning the unofficial title of “Mustang (an officer who has come up from the ranks).”
Feeling honored and priv- ileged to take part in his nephew’s re-enlistment, Commander Kish made the trip from Norfolk, Vir- ginia, to Bahrain solely to re- enlist Aaron.

Abe Brown Ministries will host its 33rd Annual Ministry Celebration on Thursday, No- vember 2, 2017, at the Hilton Tampa Downtown from 6:30 p. m. - 8:30 p. m.
This year's celebration will feature "Inside the Writer's Story" -- a live interview seg- ment between Floyd LaFountain and Dan Sul- livan, Tampa Bay Times staff writer. Dan covers Hillsborough County courts for the Tampa Bay Times. Since joining the Times in 2010, Sullivan has written about unsolved crimes, the opioid epidemic, gun control, and Florida's death row, among other topics.
Most recently, Dan's arti- cle about Floyd LaFoun- tain's release from prison was published on July 5, 2017. LaFountain was sen- tenced to life in prison at the age of 16. He was released from prison in February 2017 after serving 22 years.
"When young children are sentenced to prison, they are subject to unspeakable acts of violence and verbal abuse at the hands of adults. Without proper counseling and help upon exiting prison, the long-
term psychological effects evolve into destructive behav- ior and hopelessness.
“Floyd LaFountain's
story is a clear example of how making poor choices at an early age can lead to severe consequences. Our mission at Abe Brown Ministries is to minister to those in prison, and provide an appropriate plan of care upon their re- lease," said Robert Blount, president of Abe Brown Min- istries.
Annual Ministry Celebra- tion special guests include: Rev. Morris E. Hintzman, D.D, president of the Metro- politan Ministries Founda- tion and Public Defender of the 13th Judicial Circuit, Ju- lianne M. Holt. Dinner will be served.
Attendees will have an op- portunity to make a tax-de- ductible pledge or contribution to Abe Brown Ministries at the event. The ministry will share the progress and highlights of the year, and continue to help re- turning citizens that grew up in prison to dare to hope again.
