Drug Rehab Specialist Was Set To Meet Prince The Day After His Death
Tupac Shakur’s Mom, Afeni Has Died
Amber Rose Adds Talk Show Host To Resume
Prince was found dead one day before he was scheduled to meet with a California doctor in an attempt to kick an addiction to painkillers, an attorney with knowledge of the death investi- gation said Tuesday.
Dr. Howard Kornfeld, a national authority on opioid addiction treatment, was called by Prince representatives the night of April 20 because Prince “was dealing with a grave medical emergency,” said William Mauzy, a prominent Minneapolis attorney working with the Kornfeld family.
Kornfeld, who runs Recov- ery Without Walls in Mill Val- ley, Calif., could not clear his schedule to meet with Prince the next day, April 21, but he planned to fly out the following day.
So he sent his son, Andrew Kornfeld, who works with him, to Minnesota, with plans for him to go to Paisley Park to explain how the confidential treatment would work, Mauzy said.
“The plan was to quickly eval- uate his health and devise a treatment plan,” Mauzy said, speaking on behalf of the Ko- rnfelds. “... The doctor was planning on a lifesaving mis- sion.”
Several other sources with di- rect knowledge of the investi- gation confirmed Mauzy’s account. Calls and e-mails to the Kornfelds were not re- turned Tuesday evening.

sentatives called, Mauzy said. When Andrew Kornfeld arrived at Paisley Park at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Prince’s rep- resentatives could not find him, Mauzy said. Andrew Korn- feld was one of three people at Paisley Park when the musi- cian’s body was found in an el- evator a few minutes later — and it was Andrew Kornfeld
who called 911.
Mauzy said that Andrew Ko-
rnfeld told him that the others “screamed” when they found Prince and “were in too much shock” to call 911.
Unfamiliar with Paisley Park, Andrew Kornfeld simply told the dispatcher, “We’re at Prince’s house.”
Asked again to give an ad- dress, he said simply: “The peo- ple are just distraught. ... We’re in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and we are at the home of Prince.”
Emergency responders ar- rived within five minutes. Prince was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m., 19 minutes after responders arrived.

An unidentified Midwestern man thinks he might be Prince's secret love child — and he wants a DNA test.
The man in his mid-30s reached out to a Los Angeles- based genealogical search firm to ask about procedures for es- tablishing paternity, John Hilbert, a partner at Heir Hunters International, told the Daily News.
The man bears a resemblance to Prince and claims his mother met the superstar on multiple occasions in the early 1980s around the time he was conceived, Hilbert said.
"Prince and his mother crossed paths several times," Hilbert said Tuesday. Hilbert said his firm will take the case to the Carver County judge over- seeing Prince's probate pro- ceeding if it can gather enough evidence to support a petition seeking a DNA test. The stakes are high. If an individual can prove through genetic testing that Prince is his or her father, that person could trump Prince's siblings if no will is found.
"If paternity can be deter- mined by clear and convincing evidence through DNA, the child would be recognized as Prince's sole heir and receive the assets through intestate suc- cession," Minnesota estate lawyer Susan Link told The News. “There's no statute of limitations on it.”
Afeni Shakur Davis, the mother of one of hip-hop's most seminal and iconic fig- ures, has died at age 69, the Marin County, California, sher- iff's office said Tuesday.
Though she is best known as Tupac Shakur's mom, she was also a Black Panther as a young adult and an activist and philanthropist in her later years.
Deputies responded to a call reporting "a possible cardiac arrest" at her Sausalito home around 9:34 p.m. Monday, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said.
Shakur Davis was taken to the hospital where she died at 10:28 p.m., the office said.
