White House News
President To Meet With Michigan Governor After He Backtracks
Gov. Rick Snyder of Michigan has a question for President Obama: Want to get together?
In a rare overture by a Re- publican governor to the Democratic leader, Mr. Sny- der said on Monday that he had made a formal request for a meeting with the Presi- dent, hoping to sit down with Mr. Obama during his visit to Flint planned for Wednes- day.
Mr. Snyder’s comments re- versed a statement he made last week during a trip to Eu- rope when he was asked whether he would meet with Mr. Obama. In response, the governor appeared to give the president the brushoff.
“I’ve got a pretty full sched- ule next week,” Mr. Snyder told The Detroit News by tele- phone from Zurich, adding that he did not plan on being in Flint on Wednesday.
On Monday, Mr. Snyder seemed eager to amend those remarks, saying that he had made a request to Karen Weaver, the mayor of Flint, to meet with her and Mr.

Obama.
“What I have done, when I did get it confirmed the presi- dent was coming, is we’ve been in ongoing dialogue and I’ve made a formal request for a meeting with the mayor and the president,” Mr. Snyder said.
Mr. Snyder made the an- nouncement at a restaurant in downtown Flint, where he filled several gallon jugs with the Flint water he had pledged on April 18 to drink for 30 days during the city’s tainted

water crisis. (His pledge was temporarily lifted last week when he traveled to Germany and Switzerland.)
Mr. Snyder took some criticism for his perceived snub of Mr. Obama, partic- ularly from Democrats and Michigan residents who be- lieve Mr. Snyder should be pursuing more aid from the federal government. Mr. Snyder said his remarks from Europe were misinter- preted.
Race To The White House
RNC Chairman: Trump Is Our Nominee
Donald Trump is the pre- sumptive Republican nominee and it is time for the party to rally around him, RNC chair- man Reince Priebus declared on Twitter Tuesday night.
He sent the tweet just minutes after Sen. Ted Cruz finished his speech announcing he was leaving the race — a speech in which Cruz called for unity, but did not mention Trump’s name.
Priebus wrote: “.@realDon- aldTrump will be presumptive @GOP nominee, we all need to unite and focus on defeating @HillaryClinton #NeverClin- ton"

his run for president and Tues- day night said it would con- tinue, disputed Priebus' statement on Twitter and vowed to keep fighting.
Sanders Stuns Clinton, Wins Indiana
Based on analysis of the vote, ABC News Sen. Bernie Sanders won the Democratic primary in Indiana.
There are a total of 92 dele- gates up for grabs for the De- mocrats tonight, 83 of which are pledged delegates while the remaining nine delegates are superdelegates.
The 83 pledged delegates are awarded proportionally.
It is now mathematically impos- sible for Sanders to clinch the Democratic nomination using only pledged delegates, based on ABC News delegate esti- mates.
This means the only way Sanders can reach the magic number of 2,383 delegates is with the support of superdele- gates.
Still, Sanders told reporters, "I understand that Secretary
BENIE SANDERS
Clinton thinks that this cam- paign is over. I’ve got some bad news for her. I know all the pun- dits thought we were supposed to lose, but that apparently is not what all the people of Indi- ana concluded.”
Sanders also scoffed at the idea that staying in the race could hurt Democrats' chances against GOP front-runner Don- ald Trump. "Not at all. Not at all,” he said. He pointed to polls that showed voters saying the primary invigorated the party.
