Jonathan Christopher Buie (Chris) was born in Tampa, Florida on November 16, 1979 to the late Johnny C. Buie and Bar- bara Buie. He received his educa- tion from Hillsborough County Public School System.
Growing up he always had a passion for sports. He played or- ganized football and baseball in the Belmont Heights area and ran track in middle school and high school. He graduated from Arm- wood High School, Class of 1999 with a full athletic scholarship in football. He later played college level football at Virginia Tech and earned his Bachelor’s of Arts de- gree in Sociology. After college, he played arena football with the Laredo Lobos.
He started his career in help- ing troubled teens and adults with disabilities. He later went on to obtain a career in case man- agement with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for 7 years. Recently, he worked for WellCare as a Senior Care Coor- dinator. Jonathan was a man that wore many hats, he was a mem- ber of the Landmark Lodge 93 and Harram Temple #23, PHA. He had a passion for riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.
There will be a viewing on Fri- day, June 29, 2018, from 5-7 p. m. with the family present to receive friendsfrom6–7p.m.atLifein Christ Community Church, 9706 N. 26th Street Tampa, Florida 33610.
Friends are asked to assemble at the church on Saturday at ap- proximately 10:45 a. m. for the service.

MRS. CAROLYN WILCOX RHODES
Mrs. Carolyn Wilcox Rhodes, of Wimauma, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 24, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 30th at 1 p. m. at Mount Moriah M. B. Church, 5909 Vel St., Wimauma, with Reverend Ikie Bunton, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Wimauma Community Ceme- tery, Wimauma, FL.
Mrs. Rhodes graduated from East Bay High School and furthered her education at the Florida Memorial College in Miami, FL. Mrs. Rhodes en- joyed her career as a Teacher’s Assistant at Wimauma Elemen- tary School, where she shared her love of learning. She later pursued her love of sewing and worked for Tropical Garments for many years before starting her own business, now known as Alterations at Carolyn’s. She was the first African American business owner in Sun City Cen- ter, FL and served her commu- nity for over 20 years.
Mrs. Rhodes was a dedi- cated partner of Creflo Dollar Ministries for many years and was described by many as a Mother, Counselor, Anchor and Friend. She was a strong woman of God who walked by faith and was a faithful inter- cessor.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Raleigh Nelson, Sr., and siblings, Gladys Louise Wilcox and Harold Glen Wilcox.
She leaves to cherish her memory: 5 children, Desarai Rhodes of Brandon, FL, Kat- tron (Joseph) Cofield of Char- lotte, NC, Gerard Rhodes of Charlotte, NC, Keesha (Ting, Sr.) Lee of Dallas, GA and Sharonda Rhodes of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Keidrick Rhodes, Leilani Dove, Josiah Cofield, Ting Lee, Jr., and Ken- ton Cofield; former husband, David Rhodes of Mulberry, FL; mother, Gladys Wilcox; sib- lings, Raleigh Nelson, Jr. of Lakeland, FL, Bernard Wilcox of Tampa, FL, Laura Ann Berrien of Detroit, MI, Joyce Pittman of Tampa, FL, Cynthia Wilcox of Wimauma, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
The remains will repose after 5 p. m. Friday, June 29, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.

Mrs. Cheryl D. Smith of Tampa, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 30th, at 2 p. m. at Allen Temple A. M. E. Church, 2101 N. Lowe Street, with Bishop Isaac An- drews, officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Cheryl D. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida. She was edu- cated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Tampa Bay Vo-Tech- nical High School. Mrs. Smith was a Team Lead at T-Mobile.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Lu- mumba C. Smith; three daugh- ters, Kylah Smith, Atlanta Smith and Patrice Smith; mother, Shirley Harris; father, Ronald B. Ms. Verna Balcom Harris was born on March 30, 1953, in St. Christopher, Nevis, British West Indies to the parentage of Leonora Casey and Allen Fran- cis. She was employed by the Hillsborough County School System for over 15 years until she retired in 2015.
