Meet With Comm. Kevin Beckner At His ‘Office Hours’
Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner, District 6 Coun- tywide, is hosting ‘Office Hours In The Community’ one day every month in lo- cations around the county. These events provide resi- dents the opportunity to meet with the Commis- sioner, one-on-one, to share ideas and voice concerns without having to travel to
County Center in downtown Tampa.
No appointment is neces- sary and residents are seen on a first-come, first served basis.
February Community Office Hours are: Wednesday, February 10,2016,3p.m.–5p. m. at Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library, 3910 S. Manhattan Ave.
Black Heritage Festival Luncheon
The 16th Anniversary Mar- tin Luther King Leadership Luncheon was held on January 20, at the University Area Community Develop- ment Center. The keynote address was delivered by Richard ‘Dick’ Gregory.
Also on the program were: Sarah Combs, Executive Director, University Area Community Development Corp., Inc.; Chloe Coney, Minister Willie Dixon, Dr. Samuel L. Wright, Sr., Dr. Faye E. Williams, Esquire, National Presi- dent/CEO, National Con- gress of Black Women; and saxophonist Marcus Boothe. Keith Harris was the Master of Ceremonies and Fred Moore gave the closing remarks. Parents Encouraged To Attend Informational Meeting
On Proposed Attendance Boundary Changes
In order to provide relief to Stowers Elementary School and balance enroll- ments in the southeast part of Hillsborough County, an attendance boundary change is proposed for Stowers, Bevis, Boyette Springs, and Pinecrest Ele- mentary Schools.
A meeting will be held for community input on the proposed changes on Tues- day, February 9, 2016 at Stowers Elementary School from6p.m.to7:30p.m.in the school’s cafeteria. Stow- ers Elementary is located at 13915 Barrington Stowers Drive, Lithia.
The meeting will be an
open house format where parents can talk to staff members, offer input, and review the information throughout the evening.
This proposal does not impact students currently assigned to Bevis, Boyette Springs, or Pinecrest Ele- mentary Schools.
The School Board must approve all proposed changes before they are final.
