Virginia Mom Arrested For Punching The Principal
PORTSMOUTH, VA -- Vir- ginia police arrested a mother last Tuesday after she reportedly punched an assistant principal, knocking the woman uncon- scious, during a meeting at her child's elementary school.
Tracy Lawrence, 43, of Portsmouth went to Lakeview Elementary School demanding to speak to the assistant principal about a matter concerning her child. Lawrence spoke with the administrator but was reportedly still upset.
When she got up to leave the office, she reportedly hit the as-
sistant principal upside the head, reportedly caus-
ing her to lose consciousness briefly. The school resource officer was called to the scene, but Lawrence had already left the school.
Lawrence was arrested at her home later that evening. She has been charged with assault and battery and disorderly con- duct.

Mom Gunned Down By Teen Carjackers On Way To Pick Up Son
DETROIT, MI --- A Detroit woman became the victim of a fatal carjacking when she was shot and killed on her way to pick up her son from basketball prac- tice.
Erica Garner, 42, was leav- ing her job at Michigan Light Guard Armory Wednesday evening when the attempted car- jacking occurred. Garner’s fam- ily said she placed her 11-year-old son in the basketball program to keep him off the streets. Sadly, it was the mother who became a victim of street violence.
Police say a man attempted to enter Garner’s car outside of her job. When she drove off, the man opened fire. She was able to drive to the bus stop pick-up area, where she alerted other par- ents that she needed help.
Garner died a short while

Martial Arts Restraint Used
On Teen Found Dead In
Juvenile Detention Cell
ELIZABETHTOWN, KY --- A 16-year-old girl at an Elizabeth- town, Ky., juvenile detention fa- cility was restrained with a martial arts move for refusing to remove her sweatshirt during booking. The otherwise healthy teen was found dead in her cell the next morning.
Gynnya McMillen was booked at about 2 a.m. on Jan. 10 for a domestic violence re- lated offense at her home. After tangling with several guards over the removal of her sweat- shirt, an “Aikido restraint” was used on the teen.
Video surveillance shows Gynnya’s last movements came shortly before midnight on Jan. 10, about ten hours be- fore she was found unrespon- sive.
Officials from the prison ini- tially indicated they believe McMillen died in her sleep on Jan. 11, but after a social media campaign into the cause of her death by friends and family, they later admitted that a re- straint had been used on her the day before.
A preliminary autopsy gave no cause of death and said that
GYNNYA MCMILLEN
there were no signs of trauma or drug overdose.
According to reports, three employees of the facility al- legedly interacted with Gynnya three times starting at about 6:30 a.m.—offering her break- fast, a phone call and a snack— but when she didn’t respond, they left without checking to see if she was breathing. When the staff went to take her to court at 10 a.m. is when she was found dead.
Gynnya’s death is currently under investigation by the Ken- tucky State Troopers and the Justice Cabinet’s Internal Inves- tigation's Branch.
