Chicago Cop Plans To Sue Estate Of Black Teen He Killed
Chicago policeman Robert Rialmo, top, shot and killed Quintonio LeGrier and his neighbor Bettie Jones the day after Christmas.
CHICAGO, IL -- A white po- lice officer plans to sue the es- tate of a Black teenager he shot dead because he was trauma- tized by the fact that he acci- dentally killed the teen's neighbor in the incident, his lawyer said.
The December 26 shooting came as the U.S. city was reel- ing from a series of incidents in which police were accused of being too ready to pull the trig- ger.
The family of Quintonio LeGrier, 19, has repeatedly said there was no reason why police should have opened fire when responding to a domestic disturbance at their home. They have sued both the city and the officer who shot him, Robert Rialmo, 27.
A wrongful death suit filed by LeGrier's father, Antonio, argues that the teen "never had possession or control of a weapon" and was not a threat to Rialmo or anyone else at any point.
Rialmo was standing out- side when he opened fire on LeGrier, who was inside the building, the lawsuit said. An- tonio LeGrier is also suing for wrongful arrest after police made him leave his dying son in order to file a statement about the incident.
The cop’s attorney Joe Brod- sky said, “that if his client had advance knowledge he was dealing with a mentally ill per- son he may have handled this in a different way."

JACKSONVILLE, FL --- Jacksonville police said Satur- day that a 22-month-old boy died in a drive-by shooting.

Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams called the shooting gang-related. “Our resolve is strong to stop gun violence and gang activity,” he said, noting that there have already been 13 murders in the city this year.
Aiden Michael McClendon was in a parked car when he was killed.
Tom Hackney, the depart- ment’s chief of investigation, said that Aiden was the only person injured in the drive-by shooting. He believes the in- tended target was inside a nearby house.

Real Life ‘Concussion’ Doc Believes O.J. Simpson Has CTE
Mattel recently unveiled 27 new Barbie dolls in three new body shapes -- petite, tall and curvy -- and seven skin tones. The original Barbie is still for sale as well. While par- ents and fans of the iconic blonde bombshell cheered the toymaker for making dolls that look more like real people, some others couldn't help rolling their eyes at what they saw as a last-ditch effort by Mattel to regain market share as Barbie loses ground to other dolls.
line last Thursday on its web- site and in a Time magazine ar- ticle featuring the cover headline, "Now can we stop talking about my body?"
According to Mattel, Bar- bie will now come in four body types and seven skin tones, with 22 eye colors and 24 hair- styles. In all, 33 dolls will roll out in stages, spokeswoman Michelle Chidoni said.
The move comes a year after Mattel introduced Bar- bies with moveable ankles that would allow the dolls to wear flat shoes for the first time.
Dr. Bennet Omalu, the renowned neuropathologist whose discovery of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in football players in- spired the movie "Concussion," is willing to "bet [his] medical license" that O. J. Simpson is suffering from the disease.
"O. J. Simpson is more likely than not to suffer from CTE," Omalu told ABC News last week. "I would bet my med- ical license on it."
CTE is believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head. It has been found mostly in ath- letes who play contact sports, such as football. Multiple NFL players -- including Frank Gif- ford and Junior Seau -- have been diagnosed with CTE after t`heir deaths.
Omalu has not examined Simpson personally, and CTE can only be diagnosed after death via an examination of brain tissue, but he told ABC News that he can identify the tell-tale signs of CTE's behav- ioral symptoms, which he said include explosive, impulsive be- havior, impaired judgment, criminality and even mood dis- orders.
The strongest evidence that Simpson may have CTE, Omalu said, is that "he was ex- posed to thousands of blunt force trauma of his brain" dur- ing his playing career.

into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985, played in the NFL for 11 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, where he won the 1973 NFL MVP after becoming the first running back to gain 2,000 yards in a season, and the San Francisco 49ers. He also won the Heisman Trophy at USC.
One of the most famous run- ning backs in football history, Simpson became infamous after he was charged with the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. He was found not guilty in the much- disputed 1995 criminal case.
In September 2007, Simp- son was arrested in Las Vegas for armed robbery after at- tempting to steal sports memo- rabilia that he said belonged to him. The following year -- 13 years to the day after being ac- quitted in his criminal trial -- he was found guilty of robbery and kidnapping and sentenced to up to 33 years in prison.
