Chicago jurors on Wednesday convicted R. Kelly on multiple counts.
The "I Believe I Can Fly" singer, who is currently serving a 30-year sentence in New York after he was convicted in 2021 of sexually abusing young fans, was found guilty on three counts of child pornography and three counts of child enticement.
Kelly, 55, faced 13 total charges, including obstructing justice by paying off a minor vic- tim and witnesses in a Chicago case filed in 2002, producing and receiving child pornogra- phy, and coercing minors into engaging in illegal sexual activ- ity.
“Ladies and gentlemen, what R. Kelly wanted was to have sex with young girls," pros- ecutor Jeannice Appenteng said in her closing statement on Tuesday.
tioned in the case, "Minor 1," was no older than 14 when Kelly allegedly filmed himself having sex with her, according to federal court documents.
Now 30 years old, "Minor 1" testified in the federal trial.
Kelly's associates, Derrel McDavid and Milton Brown, are also named in the lawsuit for allegedly conspiring to help Kelly quash the abuse allega- tions against the "Ignition" singer.
Minor 1, who first met Kelly in the 1990s at his recording stu- dio with her aunt when she was a junior in high school, allegedly told her parents that Kelly was going to become her godfather.
Kelly was accused of paying off both Minor 1 and her parents — one of whom testified in the 2008 trial. He will not be eligi- ble for release until his is 80 years old.
Ramsey Lewis, renowned jazz pianist, has reportedly passed away at 87.
According to a Facebook post shared to his page, the Grammy Award-winning artist died “peacefully” at his Chicago home on Monday morning (September 12). No cause of death was given.
A statement from Lewis’ widow, Janet Lewis, read: “Ramsey’s passion for music was truly fueled by the love and dedication of his fans across the globe. He loved touring and meeting music lovers from so many cultures and walks of life.

The jury began deliberating on Tuesday after watching por- tions of an explicit video in which one of Kelly’s accusers, Jane, said she was 14 at the time it was recorded.
In 2008, Kelly was acquitted of 21 counts of child pornogra- phy after he allegedly conspired to falsify material and pay off victims and other witnesses in the case. The first victim men-
