The event showcased the province’s inclusive growth success stories, made possible through the efforts of TIKZN and what programmes companies are currently implementing to ensure that they achieve inclusive growth.
A panel-styled discussion, moderated by Ms. Yelang Prue of Access Africa Channel, included panellists Ms. Donnee Kruger, TIKZN Manager: Gauteng Office; Mr. Lawrence Dechambenoit, Rio Tinto Vice President: Corporate Relations Europe, Middle East and Africa; Mr. Ignaz Fuesgen, Director, Ascend Strategic Communications and Mr. Langalethu Manqele, JSE Manager: Equities & Equity Derivatives.
Ports Indaba focuses on fuel supply value chain
The Maritime and Oceans Economy sectors are priority sectors for Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) which in partnership with Transnet, Transnet Pipelines, Vopak, Rand Merchant Bank and the Holland Business Chamber of Southern Africa hosted a Ports Indaba at Transnet Port Authorities.
The Indaba aimed to:
• Inform and educate customers on procedures to follow for
accessing the Island View storage facility as an independent
trader and/or non-asset owner.
• Create a platform for hosting stakeholders to market their role
in the fuel supply value chain.
• Generate leads by securing customers and partners for
participating stakeholders.
• Provide a networking, engagement and exposure platform for
participating stakeholders.
The audience consisted of potential companies keen to rent fuel storage capacity as well as relevant stakeholders in the value chain. Guests were introduced to Independent Fuel Storage companies in the Port of Durban. Companies applying for wholesale licenses or pipeline conveyance agreements were advised of the risks and costs involved in buying and importing product.
TIKZN’s Export Promotion and Development Unit participated in the event and identified potential customers and exporters who would benefit from the Indaba.
