Staying AHEAD of current events is KEY to operating a successful business, not only does this go
with your TARGET AUDIENCE, but it can change the TARGET AUDIENCE throughout the year.
I suggest you create a MONTH to MONTH current events calendar or each business.
Every industry is different but keep in mind, beginning of the year people want to CHANGE, a
few months later during TAX SEASON people have money, summer starts to peak its head and
people want to look good and GO SOMEWHERE, then it’s HOLIDAY SEASON where people want
MORE money, and the cycle repeats itself.
Are you in the retail/goods business? Remember the consumer’s NEEDS change throughout
the year. Not too many people are buying fishing poles and bathing suits in the winter time!
When are people looking for JOBS? For those of you that market HIRING opportunities!
Silly days and “National _________” days are great to know to, and can bring some humor, and
some education to your page, provoking new users to comment and enjoy.
A simple Google search can provide many of these dates. Included in the back of this
guidebook is a general one for any business.
Keep in mind when it comes to content you have 4 MAJOR TYPES:
1. Lifestyle (this is my life, look at me)
2. Value (educating)
3. Humor (in this day and age, we need more laughter)
4. Emotional (motivational, inspirational, thought provoking, spiritual, religious- if that is a
part of your brand message)
USE THEM ALL and really SHOW your LEADS, and the world who you and your BRAND are and
what you stand for!
