therapy training program. Clients respond well if they do their homework.
In ARP we integrate a simple form of CBT in an easy to use format that reflects what you now know about neuroplasticity, and how to manage your anxiety in a compassionate and effective way.
CBT does require some journaling or charting, so if that’s not your thing it can be a bit challenging. Putting our thoughts on paper helps us look at how we think, and view making changes to our thinking, as a manageable project. So definitely give this a try on a daily basis for a couple of weeks. In addition to the benefits of the CBT itself, this process will give you a record of how you were feeling that you can reflect upon at a later date for the specific purpose of ingraining that sense of Reward that is so important in locking in your neuroplastic change.
Create your own CBT Record sheet. Simply divide a page into 7 columns labelled:
1. When, Where (Situation)
2. Homer’s Thoughts
3. Anxiety Rating 1-10
4. Safety thoughts after Key Phrases
(Homer, you want my attention, you’ve got it.
Homer, you want to keep me safe, I am going to help.)
5. Realistic outcomes and conclusions
6. Anxiety Rating 1-10
