HOW TO MANAGE ANXIETY & END PANIC ATTACKS
And we were off. After a few false starts and a little encouragement, I tapped our Madeline back to a state of reasonable calm.
You know how this went down (oops – no pun intended there!): Madeline was guided through a crash course (ok, I’m now just getting too punny!) in ARP, her cortisol level dropped, and we engaged in a wonderful conversation about anything but flying.
“Excuse me, sir.” It was Purser Mark. He motioned for me to stand and step forward. “The Captain is preparing for an emergency landing in Winnipeg. If you tell me you can keep her calm for the next few hours to Toronto, he’s willing to head us back home.”
“Yup Mark, I got this. But I want an upgrade to first class and a seat next to Madeline.”
Mark chucked and said, “Yeah, that was the plan.”
Madeline’s seat partner willingly moved and I slid in next to her as the plane banked again and turned back towards Toronto. “It looks like they might actually spoil us from here on in. Mind if I milk this for some extra goodies now that I’m out of the cheap seats?”
Madeline laughed and I spent the next 90 minutes making a new friend and carefully supporting her as our captain ever so gently took us home and settled the big bird onto the runway in Toronto.
