If you are a writer or enjoy journaling get your mantra on pa- per. If you are an artist or love crafts, create plaques, images, or paintings, of your mantra. Hang it in your home and work, make it your screen saver.

Your mantra is your go-to thought replacement. Earlier chap- ters in this book taught you about metacognition: the art of witnessing your thoughts. Metacognition is a critical skill in managing anxiety, as anxiety thoughts are always out of the future (fictional) that show up spontaneously and we let them stick around to become ruminations, thought loops and wor- ry. Remember, FEAR is an acronym for Fictional Events Ap- pearing Real.
As you become Master of Choosing Your Thoughts by practising the earlier exercises in this book, you can soon begin to automatically replace those FEAR based thoughts at
