HOW TO MANAGE ANXIETY & END PANIC ATTACKS
You will notice throughout reading this book and going through the ARP that every step of the solution to ending your panic attacks and managing your anxiety is structured with Intention, Repetition and Reward. (Okay, that’s the fifth time we’ve repeated it!
In addition to learning how to end your panic attacks and manage your anxiety, I would like you to walk away with the ability to craft plans and strategies that make a difference in your life. Any plan or strategy that is going to implement change for the long term in your life will require you to rewire your brain, and to do so you will need to implement that change with Intention, Repetition and Reward.
Although we may somewhat influence the outcome of many things in this world, when what we want to influence is outside of us, there are no guarantees. However, what we can always change is how we respond to the world: What we say, do and even think, in response to any thing, person, place or event.
Remember: Just because you have a thought, does not mean you have to keep it! However, once you change a thought, it is quite easy to default back to the former thought, leaving you just where you started. Perhaps you are frightened to fly, and the very thought of flying gives you a high level of anxiety. (Just wait until you meet Madeline in the epilogue of this book!) No doubt, somewhere tucked among all those FEAR-based thoughts are some helpful ones such as, “I do love being on holidays, and can’t wait to see my family again.” But when the thought of flying triggers the FEAR-based thoughts, you can have a hard time noticing the positive thoughts and
