We all know that diets don’t work as long-term solutions; if they work at all, they often don’t last. So take a deep breath here: My experience with hundreds of clients has taught me that nutrition, although critical, does not need to include any extreme diet measures!
What’s most important is to know what is good for your brain, and what is not, and to take measures to eat accordingly. Mashed potatoes with your Thanksgiving turkey will not kill you; it’s just that you’ll likely sleep through the washing up! Take note of the following foods and nutrients that our brilliant researchers have figured out either help or hurt your brain, and do your best to minimize the bad stuff and maximize the good stuff. The best source of any nutrient is fresh, organic food. However, since this is not always an option, eat as well as you can, and use quality nutrient supplements to make up for the differences.
Quit worrying about sticking to a complicated or long- term diet. Do not be concerned about what you’re going to eat except for what you’re going to pick up in this moment. Stay present. Work this change one mouthful and one meal at a time.
