KEYNOTE SPEAKER CHRIS WILSON
Chris Wilson was born on July 10, 1982. The 2nd of 3 children he was raised in Flint, Michigan by his father Edwin Wilson, who worked for General Motors and his mother Cheryl Wilson, who
was a seamstress. Both of Chris’s parents despite Flint’s rough surroundings taught Chris, to by faith, always stand for what is right and strive for his dreams.
Chris graduated from Flint Northern High School where he lettered in Football, Basketball, and Track and Field. In his pursuit of making the pros Chris Wilson, graduated from Northwood University in Midland Michigan. While at Northwood, Chris Wilson went M.A.D. (Made A
Difference) on and off the field. Wilson was voted captain by his teammates and 1st team football All- American by the Athletic Coaches Association. By faith and hard work Wilson, was the first to host an NFL pro day at NU and was inducted in the Northwood Athletic Hall of Fame. Off the field Wilson, is the founder of the Zeta Alpha chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. and responsible for bringing the National Pan Hellenic Council to the University, impacting not only students’ athletes, but the entire student body.
Chris Wilson was devastated that he wasn’t an NFL draft pick but that didn’t stop him. Wilson took
his talents to the Canadian Football League. There, he won the 2006 Grey Cup championship with the British Colombia Lions. In 2007, he was signed to the NFL’s team in Washington D.C. now known as the Washington Commanders. He played 5 years from 2007 until 2012.
Chris and his wife Sharena felt so fortunate to have crossed paths with so many great coaches and mentors they desired to pay it forward by founding the Chris and Sharena Wilson Faith Foundation
on August 30, of 2010 (www.cswfaithfoundation.org). Its objective is to fortify our community through the promotion of inspirational uprisings of young successors. Its mission is to establish positive
peer pressure by preparing and equipping young leaders and scholar athletes to be successful. The organization create platforms to bring awareness and instill a standard expectation of excellence. Events and services for The CSW Faith Foundation include athletic camps, motivational speaking, food/toy/clothing drives, exposing and creating exposer for youth.
Chris serves as the youth pastor under Bishop Neal Roberson, at Church of the Harvest International.
Business savvy to say the least, Chris interned with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce while playing in the NFL. There he continued to cultivate his skill set for business development, marketing, and consulting. His efforts have impacted companies such as Education Online (EOL- www.eollearning. com), Pick Factor (www.pickfactor.com), Superlative Sports Group, Signature 12 Salon, I Am My Billboard, Motown Dream Team, 475 Elite Training, and General Motors to name a few.
Wilson is a jack of all trades, often hosted Sports Journey Broadcast Network (www.sportjourney. com), Comcast Sports Net Washington, (www.redskins.com www.csnwashington.com) ,106.7 the Fan Radio and Fox5 DC pregame and post-game analysis. Wilson is never loss for words as he was the “Washington Redskins 2012 rap champion”. Whenever Chris, is not spending time with his wife and 3 children he enjoys playing chess, bass guitar, and coaching football.
