the catapult launcher
the crews do not know what type of targets to expect, how many of them
there will be, where they will fly from, where and how will they fly. The advanced
operating algorithms of the VTTS can significantly complicate the process
of intercepting targets and thereby increase the level of training of anti-air
personnel. Depending on the type, the targets can be in the air from 30 minutes
to 4 hours. When training anti-aircraft crews in the “fly-by” mode (detection and
simulated-only engagement), targets can be utilised repeatedly. A catapult
is used for launching: technically simple, it operates on the crossbow principle
by tensioning an elastic cord. Control is carried out from a mobile ground
station. The system also includes remote means for displaying the current aerial
situation, communication systems and means of life support for the personnel.
