Dr. Robert E. Corey Memorial Scholarship
Robert Corey, DO, was an inspiration to President Pumerantz in the early days of the University (1977-1980s). This scholarship is presented to students who demonstrate excellent attendance, attitude, and professional decorum.
Nikeeta Shah
Class of 2021
Nikeeta “Nikki” not only wants
to represent the underserved populations after graduation, she has a dream of creating diet plans for her patients, then connect them to local farms thus taking care of the entire community. She is confident that it can be done as evidenced through her volunteer work with
“Huerta del Valle” community garden in Ontario, CA. Nikki is an advocate for women and held classes on reproductive health to give young women more confidence. Her passions have been forged as a result of global study, in Costa Rica, where she first experienced child birthing in her role as a midwife. She wants to be an advocate and a voice for those who need one.
Glen Scheresky Memorial Scholarship
This award was established by the Class of 1999 in memory of their classmate, Glen Scheresky, who greatly reflected the philosophy of the College. It is presented for commitment to the medical profession, being a strong student advocate, setting and attaining high personal goals, compassion towards others, and enjoying outdoor activities.
Hannah Smith
Class of 2023
Hannah finds her happiness outdoors. Whether she is at the beach with surfboard in tow or skiing down a mountain, Hannah recharges with outdoor activities. She views medical school challenges as mountains and seeks to climb and conquer them by setting realistic goals and attaining them. She is
an advocate for “Mindful Medicine” and invites her fellow students to join sessions to create a sense of community to help them conquer the mountains they may be facing. Hannah understands that being a physician requires compassion and commitment. She displays these qualities in her medical career as well as towards every person she encounters.
