Stanley Yong
Class of 2023
Stanley grew up in an underserved community, so it’s no surprise that he has the desire to help others like him. His focus in these communities are with the youth and the elderly. Stanley volunteers his time to tutor students academically and promote physical fitness to the elderly. Stanley attributes his leadership to
his ability to listen actively and communicate effectively. While at COMP he kept his fellow students informed by releasing bi- weekly newsletters. He has given his time in the community by volunteering at food banks and homeless shelters. He thinks of his classmates as family and will be a wonderful advocate for his future patients.
Dr. Pete Frelinger Family Scholarship
COMP Class of ‘97 alumna: Jennifer Linzmeyer, DO, established this family-endowed scholarship in honor of her father,
Dr. Pete Frelinger. This award is presented to a second- or third-year student who has a minimum 3.5 GPA and who passionately volunteers in underserved communities.
Elenie Philippas
Class of 2021
Elenie has a passion to help underserved communities and gives of her time without hesitation. She finds that many of the people she helps simply want to be heard, and she is happy to listen for as long as they want to talk. Her
ability to speak Spanish creates a calming effect in the patients who
see her as an advocate. She has volunteered hundreds of hours with multiple clubs and as a Peer Review Intern for the Osteopathic Family Physician Journal. Elenie is a member
of the Osteopathic honors fraternity, Sigma Sigma Phi and was touched by the impact of food banks while volunteering at “God’s Pantry.” Her experiences have formed a spirit of volunteerism that is sure to continue long after graduation.
