 Dear East West Scholarship Donor,
I am honored to extend my sincere gratitude to you for your generous contribution to the East West Scholarship.
I am an international student from Toronto, Canada. Previous to my study in medicine, I pursued my Bachelor and Master of Science in the field of Cardiovascular Physiology at the University of Toronto. As a future physician, contributing to in-need populations is a personal and professional goal of mine. I chose to pursue this dream at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific due to their excellent reputation and compassion to serve patients and underserved communities through high quality patient-centered and community-based care. WesternU also provided me with the opportunity for early clinical exposure working with different populations, through their extensive facilities and programs.
Being an international student with a financial need to support my studies, this scholarship gives me the privilege to continue my role as a medical student. Studying at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and improving health as a future doctor through taking advantage of the excellent curriculum, high-quality services and community clinics at this school put me in a unique position to take a holistic approach towards patient care. I am currently volunteering at Pomona Homeless Outreach Project, Compression-Only CPR and God’s Pantry. Through these experiences, I am enhancing my community-care knowledge in practice.
As a future physician, it is my distinct legacy to dedicate my career, time and efforts to enhance the healthcare of my patients through every means provided to me. I believe your contribution is one of the factors that is facilitating this journey for me. Your act of kindness not only made a difference in my life but also enabled me to be even more persistent to pay this kindness forward by expanding my community advocacy efforts. For my future career goal, I am very excited to continue this journey until the notion of healthcare equality becomes a tangible reality.
Again, deep from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for being my scholarship donor and accompanying me while I am thriving to become a community-focused physician.
Sincerely,
Farigol Hakem Zadeh, M. Sc., B. Sc.
