Land to the Rear of Eden Meadows Vision, Aims and Objectives
Aim 3: Enhance biodiversity and ecological value
Objectives:
• Secure a healthy structure for hedgerow, ornamental planting and trees and encourage
native ground flora development;
• Extend and link the habitat areas of hedgerow and tree belts adjacent to the Site;
• Create a species diverse mix of wetland planting in association with newly introduced
SuDS;
• Develop the value of proposed planting as components of wildlife foraging corridors;
and
• Provide additional foraging and shelter for local wildlife.
Aim 4: Enhance the attractiveness and sense of place of the landscape setting
Objectives:
• Enhance species composition with appropriate wildflowers;
• Enhance visual amenity by providing more diversity in terms of type and structure of
vegetation, including seasonal variety;
• Specify locally characteristic species;
• Create mature standard tree cover at nodes such as road junctions, in hedgerows and
at settlement edges;
• Reintroduce positive landscape features of the area; and
• Create a legible landscape structure.
Aim 5: Soften and integrate the Proposed Development within the surrounding
landscape
Objectives
• Maintain and enhance the healthy growth and the landscape and visual amenity value
of existing and proposed vegetation; and
• Enhance and reinforce structural landscape features and habitats that contribute
towards a larger framework of green infrastructure throughout the Site.
