                    Non – Statutory Sites

                    Local Sites and Ancient Woodland


            3.6     Native  Ecology  notes  there  is  one  Local  Wildlife  Sites  (LWS)  also  designated  as  an  ancient
                    woodland,  Hawes and Wardwell Woods which lies 0.9km to the north  of the Site boundary,
                    separated by High Street.


                    Habitats within the Site

            3.7     Native  Ecology  also  noted  there  are  no  Habitats  of  Principal  Importance  or  habitats  which
                    include buildings or structures within the Site. However, the following habitat types have been
                    found within the Site:


                    •      Neutral Grassland – Other Neutral Grassland

                    •      Heathland and Scrub
                    •      Sparsely Vegetated Land
                    •      Mature and Boundary Trees
                    •      Urban and Other Features


            3.8     Information relating to the characteristics and habitat value of features within the Site and the
                    locations of recorded habitats are included on Native's Ecology Net Gain Assessment Habitats
                    Pre-Construction Map (Appendix 1). The key matters of relevance to this LBMS are summarised

                    below.  The  contribution  of  these  features  to  landscape  character  and  visual  amenity  are
                    provided in BWLPD’s  Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment which accompanies this
                    application.


                    Neutral Grassland – Other Neutral Grassland


            3.9     Native Ecology notes that approximately 1.26ha of the Site, comprises Other Neutral Grassland,
                    tussocky  in  places  and  rabbit  grazed  in  the  western  section  including  species  indicative  of
                    disturbed ground such as creeping thistle (Cirsium arvense) and common eragwood (Jacobaea

                    vulgaris).  Some of the species were recorded within  Neutral Grassland  –  Other Neutral
                    Grassland  include  Yorkshire  fog (Holcus lanatus),  cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata), annual
                    meadow  grass  (Poa  annua),  perrenial  rye  grass  (Lolium  perenne),  creeping  buttercup
                    (Ranunculus repens) and others.


                    Heathland and Scrub


            3.10    Native  Ecology  notes  that  small  areas  of  dense  blackthorn  scrub  along  the  western  Site
                    boundary  and  dense  mixed  scrub  both  on  the  western  and  eastern  Site  boundaries  were
                    recorded  within  the  Site  (0.04ha  and  0.01ha  respectively).  The  dense  mixed  scrub  include

                    bramble (Rubus fruticose) and elder (Sambucus nigra)
