During this semester, the students are required to achieve these following knowledge competencies
Comprehending meaning in transactional texts which involve activities of asking and giving information about
time, personality traits, position of things; Comprehending meaning in a short descriptive text; Understanding the
use of introductory it, helping verb (to be is/am/are) and linking verb, prepositional phrase, adjective phrase.
The students are required to achieve these following skills competencies
Using formulaic expressions of telling the time; Using formulaic expressions of describing someone’s personality
traits; Using prepositional phrases in describing the position of things; Producing short descriptive texts.
The Student’s Performance
Alhamdulillaah, Abdul shows good understanding about the use of prepositional phrase when it comes to
describing the position of something. In addition, he is also able to acceptably use introductory it and helping verb
in formulating sentences. Nonetheless, Abdul needs to enrich his vocabulary mastery especially vocabularies of
personality traits. Then, he occasionally does not really pay attention to the use of preposition in telling the time
such as when to use in/on/at correctly.
In line with the skills, Abdul often makes an attempt to answer the teacher’s questions about how to tell the time.
Moreover, he can also make a conversation discussing personality traits of someone, although the vocabularies he
uses are quite popular. However, he still makes some grammatical errors in producing short descriptive texts.
Learning Abilities
Abdul emulates his friends in many aspects, such as learning motivation, self-confidence, learning responsibility,
collaboration and communication skills. Furthermore, he is good at analyzing cases as well as thinking critically.
But, Abdul occasionally lacks accuracy, as he loses focus or carefulness. Hence, all he has to do is to read the
book(s) more voraciously.
