FINANCIAL AID/EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/VETERANS’ SERVICES
Financial Aid offers a variety of financial assistance programs including grants, loans,
scholarships, and work study opportunities for students who are having a difficult time
meeting the cost of attending Napa Valley College. All students are urged to apply for
financial assistance by submitting the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid),
or the CA Dream Act Application.
EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services) is a state-funded program which
offers one-on-one academic counseling, priority registration, transfer assistance, tutor-
ing services, financial assistance with books, opportunities to attend fieldtrips to UCs
and CSUs, and many other services for eligible students.
CARE (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education) is a supplemental component of
EOPS that offers additional support for single heads of welfare households with young children.
CalWORKs (California Work Opportunities and Responsibility for Kids) Program assists welfare recipient stu-
dents and those in transition off of welfare to achieve long-term self-sufficiency through coordinated student
services including: work study, job placement, academic, personal and career counseling, transfer assistance,
on campus child care referral, coordination, and referral to supportive services on and off campus.
VETERANS SERVICES - NVC is approved as a degree institution for veterans and eligible dependents seeking
educational and/or vocational training under Title 38, United States Code.

HEALTH CENTER/POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Heath Center provides health care and psychological services for students;
including, but not limited to: first aid, health education, physical exams, pre-
scriptions, contraception, pregnancy testing, smoking cessation, immuniza-
tions, mental health/psychological services, and violence support services. The
Health Center is staffed with a Nurse Practitioner and a Therapist.
Services for Students
The College Police Department’s role is to maintain crime prevention and service as a
primary goal. They offer a comprehensive alert system, NVC Communicate, to relay
important information to students via text, email, and social media. The Police Depart-
ment staff is available for escorting students to and from their classes if students should
ever feel unsafe. They also manage any lost or found items on campus and occasionally
offer self-defense classes to students.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER (CDC)
The CDC offers subsidized and non-subsidized services to children of student parents. The age group served is 3
months to 5 years old. The staff provides a developmentally safe and nurturing environment which promotes
the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development of you children while responding to the
needs of their families.
