This volume offers a collection of Ziziou- las’ articles which have appeared mostly in English, and which present his Trinitarian doctrine of God, as well as his theological account of the Church as the place in which freedom and communion are actu- alized. The book has the Preface written by Bishop Athanasius Yevtich, and an exten- sive and valuable Introduction written by Paul Mc Partlan. Trinitarian theology in Metropolitan John’s profound works does justice to the Church by defining it as a unity of the One and the Many at the same time, allowing a full relationship between unity and diversity. The very identity of the Church is relational; it cannot exist with- out reference to the Holy Trinity. Zizioulas has been fearless in advocating what he understands to be basic theological prin- ciples, such as the location of ecclesiology within the ambit of Trinitarian theology, and in urging Christians of all traditions to draw the consequences of those principles.
