Holy Emperor Constantine and the Edict of Milan

The publication of this beautiful pocket- size, full-color, English-language book, has been compiled and designed by Bishop Athanasius, a disciple of the great twenti- eth-century theologian Archimandrite Justin Popovich. Bishop Athanasius’ thought combines adherence to the teach- ings of the Church Fathers with a vibrant faith, knowledge of history, and a profound experience of Christ in the Church. The book is available in bilingual, Serbian and English, versions. The occasion of Emper- or Constantine’s conversion into the faith of Christ, and the Roman Empire’s trans- formation from persecutor to protector of Christianity, is historically related to the famous Milan edict of toleration, i.e. the official decision of the Roman emperors Constantine the Great and Licinius to grant freedom to the Christian religion and Church.

History and analysis of so the called “American schism” (1963-1992) and Recommendations for Its Overcoming by Bishop Athanasius Yevtich
In the history of the Serbian Church there were only a few schisms. In our time, there was a well-known American schism (1963- 1992). Bishop Atanasije has placed all ques- tions tied to the schism under the light of Orthodox ecclesiology and Tradition, which was the only way to deal with them in order to arrive as close as possible to the healing of the schism. The concrete result of Bishop Atanasije’s ecclesiological pro- posal was the reestablishment of the Eu- charistic communion and reconciliation which was accomplished on the Feast of the Meeting of our Lord, February 15, 1992. The book speaks not only about the mean- ing of bishop, clergy and people and their interaction, but, also, about the need for catholicity and synodality of the Church. Every important decision goes through the process and the Council itself, for the councils are inseparable part of that which we call truth and salvation.
