The Ministry of the Circle
of Serbian Sisters
edited by Bishop Maxim illustrated by Fr. Stamatis Skliris
This beautifully illustrated brochure gives a history of the contributions of the Wom- en’s Organizations throughout our Western American Diocese and describes the im- portant ministry of the Diocesan “Kolo Srpskih Sestara” in the life of our Church. The contribution made by the women’s or- ganizations to our Church life on both the local and national level was enormous. Serbian Sisters’ Circles (Serbian: Kolo Srp- skih Sestara) were often founded before parishes and church-school congregations. The book presents the principle goals of the KSS, and through the two theological texts, depicts the role of the KSS as the fol- lowers of the holy Myrrh bearers, led by the Most Holy Mother of God, as an un- doubtedly an integral part of the Holy Tra- dition of all of Christianity.

THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918
The Kingdom of Serbia, the United States of America, and the Serbian American Diaspora
edited by Krinka Vidaković-Petrov
This anthology commemorates the cen- tennial of “An Appeal to Americans to Pray for Serbians” issued July 26, 1918 by the administration of President Woodrow Wilson. The book focuses on the relation- ship between two Allies—the Kingdom of Serbia and the United States of America, including the role of the Serbian American Diaspora. In the longer historical perspec- tive, World War One, World War Two and the Cold War appear as three global events marking the 20th century and changing the world at the threshold of the new Mil- lennium. An exceptional chapter in this book is dedicated to Serbian American war volunteers, who began enlisting and going to war-torn Serbia and Montenegro in 1914. It provides insights into the rela- tions between the Kingdom of Serbia and the United States of America.
