Congratulations to the BBA & JBC for organising the first Championship Division
Tournament set to VJBL rules – great concept and was definitely received well.
Secondly, a HUGE thankyou to Samantha Van Den Berg and to both Trena &
Damien Nihill for stepping up to the plate and taking ownership on being Team
Managers for the tournament given the usual Team Manager couldn’t overcome a
little chronic sciatic prolapsed disc pain (toughen up)….so thank you Sam, Trena &
               Damien.
Unfortunately, it was without doubt a weekend of missed opportunity for the U161
Boys with the close losses speaking for themselves, and they should have all been
converted to wins against Warrnambool, Shepparton & Echuca.
Nether the less, it was a lesson learnt for the boys on foul shots, layups, defence,
confidence and the want to compete without compromise …some of the basic
principles of junior basketball which still apply through all levels, inc the NBL or NBA
which both Coach KING & A/Coach O’BRIEN certainly let the boys know about!

However, wounds will heal, and the boys are now fired up more than ever to regain
their fighting Bendigo Braves spirit and are looking forward to Country Champs in a
few weeks’ time to redeem themselves.
