Meditation Styles

            1. Deep Breathing/Transcendental Meditation- This is a quiet meditation, this is silence and internal
reflection. Any focused deep breathing, pranayama, or yoga work too.
            2. Chanting- this can come in the form of Hindi chanting or Native chanting, or Gregorian priests styles of
chanting. The concept is that the sound resonates to the chakras of the body.
            3. Dancing/Singing- both of these activities can transport you to the state of bliss known as nirvana, sexual
union can also achieve this state of blessed bliss.
            4. Music- such as flutes, drums, crystal bowls, and tuning forks, great examples of how music can create a
state of frequency to allow contemplation and meditation.
            5. Exercise- this creates an endorphin rush which simulates this bliss state as some call it the second wind,
this place where we are outside of ourselves and in a different dimension.
            6. Visualization- Creating a happy place within ones mind or an arena for other work and collaborations to
               take place.
            7. Writing/ Knitting/ Artistic outlets- All of these things allow the hands and mind to stay busy while we
contemplate or meditate on issues and allows us processing time.

A lot of people say they don’t have the time for stuff like this, it’s as important to good over all health, mind,
body and spirit, as brushing your teeth. It takes a commitment on your part to incorporate this into your daily
routine. Life is full of chaos and this is one way to remain self- centered in the eye of the storms.

Now that we have gone over some of the meditation basics let’s move onto basic grounding techniques.

Grounding~is essentially tying ones self to Mother Earth. Again these are visual aides to give you an idea
how to connect to Earth wherever you may be.

        Grounding Technique 1

Lie down in the grass if possible or sit someplace in nature ideally. If you are in the city, find a park with trees.

From a sitting position plant both feet on the ground crossing no hands or feet, and breathe. 10 deep, slow
breaths to begin with. Envision roots coming out of your body all over like a tree. See those roots burrowing
into the earth, growing deep to the core of the Earth. See those same roots reaching for the sky and attaching
themselves to the heavens. Listen to your heartbeat and your breath, feel it becoming one with Mother Earth
and her heartbeat. Feel it resonate throughout your entire being.

Another visual aide people like, is to see a beam of light opening from under your feet. See the beam running
        through your body to heaven.

You can also eat toast, some say this gets rid of the spacey feelings and clears the thinking.

The idea of all of this is to physically ground into the planet’s magnetic grid and tune in with the nature
frequency. Love and peace and harmony are essential feelings to have when we are feeling out of control.
Grounding allows us to pause for a moment and remember what we really are and that is Love. However you
choose to connect; by hiking to the highest cliffs, or putting your feet in the ocean or sitting by a babbling
brook, get quiet and connect, get your feet on the ground and your head out of the clouds.

Gardening is another excellent way to connect and ground. Hugging a tree can take away anger and pain if you
ask it to. Like the Lorax, talk to the trees.
