From the direCtor’S deSk....
After a pause in publication of the CENTER HEART-
BEAT, we are back, now that Huyen (Gwen) Nguyen is
on board as the CBAC administrator. Gwen joined us
from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she
was the Assistant to the Chair in the Department of
Art. She edited and produced what I feel is an inter-
esting and informative newsletter - thank you Gwen
from all of us!
This summer, I was a visiting professor at the Univer-
sity of Oxford, where history of science and learning
is integrated naturally in the present and reflected in
the beautifully preserved buildings from the early days
of Academe. I was constantly reminded of the impor-
tance of history and progression in the process of sci-
entific discovery.
