under the gospel of the uncircumcision, Paul would never
have said, “I thank God that I baptized none of you.” Thus,
the two gospels differ as to whether water baptism is a
required expression of faith.
2. The Old Testament commandments
Peter’s gospel of the circumcision
And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good
Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have
eternal life?
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there
is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter
into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:16,17)
Paul’s gospel of the uncircumcision
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath
broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law
of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make
in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
(Ephesians 2:14,15)
Peter’s gospel requires the keeping of commandments
while Paul’s gospel does not. It is thus obvious that the
gospel of the uncircumcision and the gospel of the
circumcision are not simply two different names for the
same message but two entirely different messages. We
need to understand which gospel applies today so that we
can do what the Lord requires of us.
