INNOVATION PROJECTS Early Stage Typhoid Diagnosis
IIT DELHI in 6 hours
Ravikrishnan Elangovan, Saurabh Singh, Vikas Pandey - IIT Delhi
We have developed a portable device iMC2 for early stage typhoid diagnosis within 6 hr. This process involves culture
growth of the infected sample (blood) in broth media for 5.5 hrs and then immuno-magnetic enrichment of the target
cells using portable device. The enriched target cells can be visually confirmed by lateral flow immunoassay. The
efficacy, portability and cost affordability of the system make it suitable in range on clinical settings from rural to
urban.
Device to Detact the Difference Between Handloom and Powerloom Fabrics
Samrat Mukhopadhyay, Aastha Agarwal, Pooja Jain - IIT Delhi
The handloom sector in India faces a great threat from the mechanized powerloom sector which tends to imitate the
handloom woven fabric sold in the market. Powerloom fabric is cheaper and gives a good profit margin to the
shopkeepers because it is sold more by duping the customers in want of authentic handloom fabric. Its a two way
loss - the customers are cheated of the real handloom material, while the weavers, already living in inhuman and
adverse conditions, struggling to make a living, suffer all the more leading to a subsequent loss of livelihood for
them. The proposed project would aim to develop an application enabled in a device which can be used to detect
the authenticity of handloom fabrics a simple solution which the customers can use at their end to detect the real
fabrics.
