OBJECTIVES STORYBOARD

The inner self discovered in scent’s This story is about exploring themes of family dynamics, personal aspiration,
fleeting embrace and the impact of societal expectations through the lens of Guo’s journey in
discovering his passion for perfume design amidst familial challenges.
Guo is a young man with a heightened sensitivity to scents, and his coming-of-
age story is deeply rooted in the community of Ho Man Tin. During his childhood,
his father was left paralyzed from the waist down due to a racing accident, while
his mother managed a fish stall in the market, burdening him with the weight of
their struggles. From a young age, he has perceived a presence he likens to
a "monster" that follows him everywhere. As he matures, Guo longs to escape
the constraints of his environment and the "stink" that haunts him, yearning
to pursue the "fragrance" he dreamed of as a child. After a heated argument
with his father, he leaves home to become a perfumer. However, his mother’s
unexpected injury forces him to return to Ho Man Tin and temporarily take over
the fish stall. The "stink" he wanted to evade re-enters his life, compelling him
to confront the shadows of his past and the realities of family. Through Guo’s
journey, the story explores the complex relationships between family, dreams,
and self-identity.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

My name is Leung Nga Wing (b. 2001),
and I graduated with a Higher Diploma
in Film, Television & Photography
from the Hong Kong Design Institute
in 2023. I am currently completing
my Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in
Cinematic Arts and Technology, set
to graduate in 2025. Throughout my
studies, I have honed my skills in
scriptwriting, directing, and video
editing, contributing to projects such
as “Promise” and “Dust”, where I
took on the roles of director and
scriptwriter. My FYP supervisor is Ms
TSANG Tsui Shan Jessey.
