TEENS OF THE YEAR
GR A CE T A YL OR
“I guess,” says Grace Taylor, “the most interesting thing
about me is my volunteer work. I’m a little different from
most teens because I spend the majority of my free time
serving my community or going on mission trips.
“I spent 10 days in some of the most underprivileged
parts of Philadelphia learning how to love people not
because of their situation, but because they’re people just
like you and me.”
Taylor, who lives with her family in Bethlehem, as well
as her cat Rosie and bunny Scooter, attends Freedom High.
Over the past few years, she has accumulated nearly 500
volunteer hours through a range of meaningful activities:
two mission trips; various Young Life events; assistant
director of the Northeast Middle School Theatre Company; WyldLife leader, mentoring
middle-school girls; East Hills music programs; various clubs; and church.
But that’s not quite all. Taylor also plays trumpet and—naturally—hangs out
with friends.
Even as she looks toward caring for others, Taylor is building her own skills. “I do all of
this,” she adds, “while I am learning and executing effective listening and leadership skills.”
Taylor will attend Saint Joseph's University to major in elementary education and will
minor in Spanish.
