INCLUSION CRITERIA
• Children and adults with persistent, isolated mH classified as glomerular on the basis of at
least 2 urine sediment examinations • mH defined as >1 RBC/HPF at 400x
• All patients with: normal renal function; normal blood pressure; normal ultrasounds of the
urinary tract; no proteinuria by pyrogallol red assay; negative urinecolture
• Patients with non glomerular mH not included in the study because we judged it nonethical to
submit such patients to renal biopsy
