Looking at their Facebook page where they post and promote the projects they
have worked on, we saw many astounding creations. We had many questions
on how they come up with such amazing ideas that look so complex yet fun, all
that chemistry knowledge they possess and the quirky glassware they use.
ON IDEAS
“We read a lot on old myths and
folklores. We also talk to the locals,
visit their art galleries, hit their local
markets and find out the ingredients
they use in their food. Those are
usually the places where you find
inspiration and what goes to shape the
local cultures. We learned so much by
listening to the bartenders we train
and the knowledge they shared is
sometimes a solution to a problem that
we take years to solve.”
In their work for Villa Caemilla
Boutique Hotel in Boracay Philippines,
Cocktail Professor created cocktails
based on stories of local folklore and
rituals, combining concoctions from
homemade infusions and syrups using
local ingredients.
One Day Millionaire (top left)
Filipinos believe it’s about the quality
of life, not money. So most like to save
up and spend it all in one day to feel
alive. They call this phenomena the
‘One Day Millionaire.’ This cocktail
with Hennessey Cognac was inspired
by this sensation.
Lapu-Lapu (bottom left)
This cocktail is inspired by the Sibuyan
Sea and named after the Filipinos’
first hero: ‘Lapu-Lapu’. Lapu-Lapu and
his army won the important Battle of
Mactan against the Spanish in 1521.
He is also known as an “Orang Laut”, a
man of the sea. This is a fresh cocktail
with some sea saltiness, made with
homemade Sampaguita Flower Syrup,
a local flower of the island and served
in a sea shell from Puka Beach.
