 Plano Collin Nepalese Lions Club Organized a Blood Drive

A newly established Lions Club in District 2-X1, Plano Collin Nepalese Lions Club, coordinated a blood drive on September 29, 2018 in the parking lot of Swami Narayan, Gurukul, in Plano, Texas. The blood drive was a huge success as 74 donors were registered and 43 units of blood were collected. Over 150 community members, several Lions and their partner in services, came at the blood drive location to cheer up the donors and to support the humanitarian cause. Some Leos, including District Leo Council President Leo Sweta Gautam, Director Leo Kritika Panta and two youngest Charter Members Lion Ami Lamsal and Lion Swikriti Paudyal actively volunteered in the blood drive event.

In the early morning of Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, 18 Lions headed to downtown Dallas, to Houston and Jackson St to be precise, to the District 2-X1 float spot location (#17) to decorate the float and two trucks for the annual Texas State Fair Opening Parade. Amongst the attendance are Lions PDG Alice Conway, PDG Kathy Fletcher, PDG Darla Wisdom, and VD 1 Vinod Mathur, and CT Danny Fletcher.
At noon, the parade started. Lion Weaver Patterson (Oak Cliff LC) dressed in a lion outfit accompanied by Lions VD 1 Vinod Mathur (Dallas Filipino LC), PDG Alice Conway (Coppell LC), Anastasia Semos-Shelton (President, Oak Cliff LC), George and Ilonka Burke (White Rock LC), another and Emily Wisdom (Lion Darla’s granddaughter) waved and smiled from atop the decorated float. Lion PP Iris Smith (Oak Cliff LC) do so on the back of the truck that hauled the float, drove by Lion CT Danny Fletcher with his wife at his side, PDG Kathy Fletcher (Dallas Founder LC). Lion PP Layne Vincent (Oak CL) stopped by for a moment to direct the float procession. Lions PDG Darla Wisdom (Oak Cliff LC) and six other lions from various clubs flanked both sides of the float, and walked 2.5 miles down the Main St. It’s a great opening day, and we’re proud to be part of it. GO LIONS!
