Back from a great State Convention Corpus Christi. Looking forward to the Lions Clubs International Convention in Las Vegas at the end of June where I will become your Governor for the following year. Plan to come to the first Cabinet Meeting on July 14th in Coppell. We will have the new District Directory available, both on lion and in print form. We do have a few clubs that have not told LCI about new officers for next year, so please get that into MyLCI quickly.
Congratulations to the 2 first place Youth Contest winners and one second place winner. You made our district proud again for the 4th year in a row! We have some great young folks in the District. Also congratulations to our own Leo Advisor, Prakash Gautam, for being recognized at
the State level. You Leos are the future of Lionism and we applaud you for your
efforts.
Our membership for the district is down for the year. Please add a member this month between June 7th and the 30th to aid your service projects (see page 7 - fee reduction) . More hands mean more people served. We have asked you to hold members until July, but LCI has changed their procedures so drops in June are OK. Clean up your roster going into the new Lion’s year.
Lions University training is June 9th and due to the many changes implemented by LCI, it is imperative that your incoming officers attend the officer training and that all of you hear about these exciting new innovations. As you have seen, new positions are to be named in your clubs. We will cover these at the University.

The MD-2 Convention was held on May 24 – 26, and was well attended in Corpus Christi. Lions from different districts were able to renew their friendships, exchange ideas and camaraderie. The elected Governors were also engaged in training and workshops. PIP and President of LCIF Bob Corlew was the guest speaker. He highlighted the LCIF’s impact with the hurricane Harvey in Texas, flooding in japan, earthquake in Ecuador. LCIF has given over 13,000 Foundation grants totaling over a billion dollars. Opportunities for Youth awards were also presented and our District 2-X1 was in the first place in two out of three competitions and a second place in the third competition. Congratulations to contestants Safal Lamichane, Sharon Shaji and Jevin James from 2-X1, for their outstanding
performance and making our district proud.
As we approach the end of this Lion’s year let us try to finish strong, especially our membership. We are still down by 78. Help from all clubs is necessary to bring our membership to be positive. We welcome the newly chartered Irving Everest Centennial Club to our 2-X1 community. Still some clubs have not reported their service activity. Starting 2018-2019 clubs will have option to report service activities either on My LCI or My Lion. My Lion will be released July 1, and we need to learn how to use and switch over. The Lions University is scheduled for June 9, 2018. All newly elected officers are requested to enroll and attend.
