Waxahachie Lions Club Host “The Hachie 50”
The Waxahachie Lions Club & Running Club hosted the "Hachie 50" on May 5th. The annual run includes a marathon, a 50 mile ultra-marathon, a 50k ultra-marathon and a 50-mile relay. Located at Waxahachie’s Getzendaner Memorial Park, the event attracted 283 participants from 13 different states and Canada.
Now an official "Boston Qualifier" race, the race continues to attract some of the top runners in the region and showcases the beautiful Gingerbread City. Lions came out in full force to support the event and 80 volunteers contributed to make the event a huge success! Approximately $16,500 was raised to support schools in Ellis County and other local Lions charities.
Race Director & Lion Paul Box adds, " The Hachie 50 has been an exciting way for me to combine two of my passions in life; helping children in the community and running. Annually, runners fly in from across the country and even from around the globe to run these insane distances. The joy I get each time I see someone finish such an amazing accomplishment is worth every minute of the time it takes to put the race on."
