Keith's Komments We are approaching the time to nominate the leaders for the club for the next year (PU-101 time). And the time to
recognize the newer Lion that has shone. The Grass Roots Award to be given at the District Convention is one way to do
that. Think about it and complete the form and submit it by April 1st so we can honor these good Lions (see pages 9 & 10).
As always, remember to report your activities on MyLCI so we can keep up with what is going on. As of the end of January there were still 9 clubs with no reported activities for this Lion’s year! Surely yours has! Remember our District Governor’s goal for all clubs to get one or more Centennial diamonds this year. You have to report the activities to qualify.
Our District membership is down over 100 this year. We need to add members to each club. Ask One and increase your totals. More Lions means more service for your community.
The March Cabinet meeting is the deadline for nominations for the various District Charities. We still have openings for Lions to serve on the JC Hyer, Lions Sight and Tissue and 2-X1 Charities Boards of Directors. Is that the place for you or one of your members? It is also time to sign up for the Texas Leadership Forum as noted by our GLT, Fred Conger. Hope to see you there. Also sign up for the District Convention in April (see pages 27,28 & 29)
Finally, I am working on filling the positions for the District Cabinet for next year. If you want to serve in some capacity, let me know. Join me, the vice governors, Cabinet Secretary Karen Johnson and Cabinet Treasurer John Stare in serving your district in 2018-2019.

Lions around the world took the centennial service challenge to serve 100 million people and today we have doubled that goal by serving 200 million people. The power of we and the commitment to serve are the essential ingredients for this success. We had a very successful Midwinter conference which was well attended. Thanks to all the Club Presidents and Secretaries for attending the Executive Council meeting. We had a stimulating interaction regarding club excellence and public relations. All clubs need to implement LCI forward’s strategic framework consisting of Membership Value, Service Impact, Club Excellence Process (Club Quality Initiative) and Improve Visibility and reshaping Public
Opinion. In this age of fast flowing information, we need to learn new ways to help others understand who we are and why we matter. This helps in recruiting new members and interacting with the community. Keeping the members engaged also helps to increase and retain membership. There are still several clubs that have not added a single member, during the first six months. Our district has a net loss of 108 members. Next five months will be crucial in building our membership to a net increase.
