Julian C. Hyer Youth International Campers Visit Oak Cliff Lions Club
Lion Nia Mackay Dallas Oak Cliff
A total of 24 (from 25) international campers from 16 countries visited the Oak Cliff Lions Club on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at noon. For the Oak Cliff Lions, this annual program was the most sought after program that they always looking forward to attend. They love to meet the new campers and want to hear what they like about Texas and what they will perform in the program.
Most of the campers said that they loved the rodeo show they went to in Mesquite, TX and having a blast at the Six Flag Over Texas in Arlington, TX the day before (Tuesday). In fact, some of them rode a ride twice, just like Tarik Deljkovic (Denmark-he was originally from Yugoslavia-Bosnia) and several other boy campers, who went back to the Aquaman ride in the afternoon so that they could get cooled down!
At the Wednesday program, Samuel (England) sang ‘Hallelujah’ song with Alessandro (Italy) at guitar, followed by Edward (The Netherlands) who played clarinet and for the grand finale, all campers sing together about their experience in Texas, with Alessandro at guitar. Eight hosts family attended the program, including two sets of sisters from the Oak Cliff Lions Club: Lions PP Iris Smith and her sister Lion Frances Stinnett, and Lion Terri Bailey, the J. C. Hyer Youth Camp Exchange president, and her sister 1st VP Diana Ezzell. Lion Diana informed that, in all of the countries she invited, campers from India and Mongolia were the only ones who couldn’t send their campers due to their visas issuance problems. In closing, President Lion Anastasia Semos-Shelton received a Lions Club Denmark flag from Tarik which in return, she gave him the Oak Cliff Lions Club’s trophy to be presented to his club
The J. C. Hyer campers will leave Texas and going back to their home countries on a ‘sad day,’ Sunday, July 28, 2018. Hope they’ll share their 5 weeks experience in the greatest state of Texas to the Lions and Leos Clubs in their home countries. Farewell, and let’s pray for their safe trip back to their homelands. Adieu, Ciao, Tschuss, Dag, Hej Hej, Hade, and Zai Jian!
