VINOD’S VIEWS
I had the opportunity to attend part of the USA/Canada Lions Leadership forum, held on Sep 20-22 in Columbus, Ohio. The forum’s theme “Building Teams through Leadership” was overwhelming, with about 100 different seminars in three days. The focus was on leadership, membership, service and other general topics. Over 2000 Lions were in attendance from US and Canada. These forums are a must for all Lions to become a better and informed Lion.
Good news regarding membership. This year we are +29, we have added 70 new members and dropped 41. Let us keep this trend going. There are still several clubs that have not added
any new members. GMT is here to help you. Just ask them.
We had a great time at the State Fair of Texas parade in downtown on Friday Sep 28. District 2-X1 had a float, and Lions were very visible during the parade. Thanks to PDG Darla for organizing and all volunteers for helping and the decorations. This is one way of showing that Lions are an integral part of our community. North Carolina has been hit by hurricane Florence, and there is desperate need for help. District 2-X1 plans to send a truckload of supplies to the affected areas, and request all clubs to reach out and donate whatever amount you can.

In September, my Club the Sachse Lions Club participated in a bowling outing. This was just for fun and fellowship among our members. Plan on trying events like this to make your Club
better. Working together and playing together is a key element of a successful Lions Club. I also played in the Chet Todd Memorial Golf Tournament in Burnet, Texas that benefitted the Texas Lions Camp. Find events like these to help support our charities. In October, finalize your support of the LCI Peace Poster
Contest. What a great way to support the young people in our communities. Please also support Sports Extravaganza that serves blind and visually impaired youth. Remember White Cane day in October. There will be a Dallas White Cane Day Celebration of Independence from Blindness at Dallas City Hall on October 15. Many District Lions will support Lion Blake Lindsay of Dallas Lighthouse for the
Sachse Lions Club members, family and friends bowling event
Blind and the Oak Cliff Lions Club as he leads this event. Please plan a White Cane Day Fund Raiser in your own Club.
The District 2-X1 Membership numbers showed a large increase in September. Continue to work to grow the membership
in your Club. If you need help or support, contact the District Governor, other District 2-X1 leaders, or our District 2-X1 GMT Coordinator PDG Henry White. Play, raise money, serve, and grow so you make your Lions Clubs and you as a Lion always better. Please contact me with any questions or if you need my support.
