Global Leadership Team
ATTENTION: CLUB OFFICERS!
Did you miss attending Lions University Training in June? If so, you have an opportunity to pick up some of your positions training at the
October 20th Cabinet Meeting in Kaufman TX.
Training for Secretary/Treasurer and President/Vice President will be offered. Plan to attend this meeting and training to be more successful this Lion year.
The GLT’s main role is to develop Lion leaders to hold positions at all levels.
Your GLT has been busy since July 1st. We have trained several new Certified Guiding Lions who were needed to assist and guide our newly chartered clubs and to assist one rebuilding club.
We have also trained the newly assigned District Zone Chairs for their important role in
overseeing and supporting the clubs in their zone.
   Upcoming training events include:
• An additional Membership Chair Training event.
• Next year’s Lions 2-X1 University Training tentatively set for June 15th,
2019.
• Texas Lions Leadership Forum/Regional Lions Leadership Institute to be held at the Crowne Plaza North Central hotel on March 2nd and 3rd. This Regional Institute is a great way to learn and meet Lions from all over Texas.
• Training classes at District Cabinet Meetings, Mid-Winter Conference, District Convention, MD-2 Convention and International Convention
• District Membership Chair & Committee Training – May 2019
• USA/Canada Forum - September 2019 (Continued Page 4)

We just had the Lancaster New Centennial Lions Club GlobalMembershipTeam Charternightchartering56membersonSeptember21, 2018. Thank you to President Ernest Taylor and Lion V.
Nash.
The district has one more Lions Club penning charter. The Plano Collin Nepalese Club chartering with 42 members. To date the District 2-X1 has 24 additional members for the month, Thanks to clubs dropping less members this year.
Please ask your clubs new members who they want to help and why. That way we can create new service project based on who they want to assist. Obtaining this information will insure members will be motivated and committed and aid in building much stronger clubs in the future. It would be an
excellent idea for each new club member to complete a simple questionnaire after
their first three to six months in the club. It is important to know if their membership is meeting their expectations and if they are happy in the club. “Let’s keep them”.
Club Presidents are the GAT Leaders and we must have strong leadership to drive membership retention and dedication to service. If you need assistance, contact your Zone Chairs. The key issues that cause a lack of membership retention are the lack of interpersonal relationships, leadership problems and negative club characteristics, time commitment and geography. Other issues included, cost, age, personal reasons not related to Lions and a feeling that “I wasn’t making a difference”. Let’s continue to improve our club and strive to mitigate aforementioned issues this year.
I like would to take this opportunity to thank each club for working on retention. Please keep up the excellent work!
