Celebrating Women in Lionism
Lion Nia Mackay Dallas Oak Cliff
On Wednesday, June 19, 2019 the Oak Cliff Lions Club held a special program celebrating Women and Men together serving in Lionism. The program was chaired by PP John Dodd and PP Carol Donovan honoring all the women who has worked together since 1987 serving the Oak Cliff’s community and community at large. Lion Carolyn Dunigan, the first Lioness member at OCLC in 1987 who became the Oak Cliff Lions Club’s first woman president in 1995 was honored at the event. Lion Carolyn passed away in 2018.
The second Lioness member, Lion Judy Vincent (wife of PP Jerry Vincent and mother of PP Layne Vincent) also attended the program. Amongst the speakers were special guest PP Lion Carolyn’s husband, David Dunigan, and Lions PDG Darla Wisdom, Senada Rustic, and Dr. Elba Garcia. The event was closed with the presentation of the song “We are Lions” by the Lionesses, adapted from Helen Reddy’s popular song in the 70’s, “I Am Women.”

ALERT – KIDSIGHT TRAINING
The Forney Lion’s Club will be hosting a training for KidSight USA with Lion Kathryn Tyre. Anyone that would like to be trained on using the eye screening device is welcome to join us. The training will be held on Thursday, July 18th from 6-8 pm at the Forney ISD Administration Building located at 600 S. Bois D’Arc Street, Forney, TX 75126. We look forward to this opportunity and for one more way to serve our great community. Hope to see you there!
