Forney Lions Club
Lion Sheila Frey – Lion since 2016
Lion Sheila really became a Lion three years ago when the club was in a huge bind. The club’s Angel Tree Chair quit, leaving a gigantic hole in our Christmas Service Project. Lion Sheila, with no prior experience, said she would take care of it. She stepped into the void and ran it like she had been doing it for years. She organized the family sign-ups, the Angel adoptions, the wrap up party including Santa and the Forney Fire Department, and all with a smile and gracefulness we have come to appreciate. Lion Sheila also participated in our concession stands, our Christmas in the park, and everything else asked of her.
Grand Prairie Host Lions Club
Lion Vanessa Ortega – Lion since 2018
Vanessa was able to start a Leo's club at the campus where she teaches 7th and 8th graders. Her motivation and excitement of being a Lion carried over to her campus. She has also spearheaded a school garden where our Lions Club received a grant to complete. She has volunteered at two painting events for domestic violence shelters and at a low vision clinic. Her enthusiasm is very contagious when she enters the room!
