Sports Extravaganza Clean up Day
Lion Christy Householter Secretary Richardson Midday Lions Club
A big thanks to UTD Infinity Lind Club! Four of their club members spent the day with Lion Christy Householter and Randy Foederer at the home of PDG Julia Johnson, cleaning out a huge storage shed that will be used for equipment for Sports Extravaganza. It was hard and dirty work and these enthusiastic young lions made it fun and entertaining! After working hard for hours, we all made good use of a local pizza buffet! On the drive home you would have thought these young adults would be napping. Instead, they laughed and shared personal stories and marveled at the size of Lake Ray Hubbard as we drove the bridge over this huge Texas lake.
I just needed help with a back breaking task when I called Avanti Sethi, the Advisor for UTD Infinity Lions for help. What I got was a delightful group of youngsters that were funny, gracious, and hardworking Lions that enriched my life! I hope you will all come out and support their banquet in the Spring so you can see and meet these fine Lions yourself!

Plano Early Lions Club adopted a Highway
Plano Early Lions Club has adopted a city street (Adopt-A-Highway) in the City of Plano. Ironically or on purpose this is the same route the Plano Lions Independence and Christmas Parade take each year. In case you are interested it takes 6 people armed with safety vest, trash pickup sticks and garbage bags to walk this route in just under a mile long segment of road. If you form 2 teams you can cover this cleanup project in less than an hour.
To get started in the city of Plano it cost $160 which covers the cost of two signs (see photo) with installation as well as supplies and tools. There is an ongoing fee for non-profit organizations of $40 per year. The city supplies the pickup sticks, vests and trash bags. Clean up times are 6 times a year, December/January etc. You are responsible to issue a report to the city upon completion of each pickup/ clean up event. That’s all there is to it. For Plano Early it seemed to be a no- brainer idea since they are there twice a year anyway. Maybe this is something your club might be interested in the new year.
