COMPUTER DEPARTMENT
I am delighted to present the sixth edition of 'The Golden Rock Chronicles.'
This year has been incredibly fruitful, as our students have started to see the
benefits of their dedication and hard work, supported by their committed
teachers.
In our current Digital Age, computer programs are crucial to nearly every
aspect of daily life. To ignore this global reality would do a disservice to both
educators and students. While some may argue that revamping our
curriculum to include more computing is an unnecessary luxury, and others
may believe that core skills in reading and mathematics should take priority, I
am convinced that computing is essential in our increasingly complex world.
These are not just future skills; they are essential today. By embedding computing across all classes,
we ensure that students gain genuine digital literacy, which will enhance their success in other
subjects as well.
Over the past few years, our department has achieved numerous goals through quality teaching,
innovative afternoon lessons, online classes, Saturday classes, and effective peer tutoring. Our
students' achievements speak for themselves:
FY12CE: Jone Vono Koroisovau scored an impressive mark of 99/100 in 2020.
FY13CE: Jone Vono Koroisovau & Litiana Naikatalautabua scored the highest mark of 98/100 in
2021.
These accomplishments reflect a consistent trend of excellence, with our department maintaining a
100% pass rate in both Year 12 and Year 13 external examinations over the past nine years.
As the saying goes, "Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better." I extend my
heartfelt thanks to the administrative team for their unwavering support and contributions to our
department.
I also wish all exam candidates the best in their upcoming examinations. May all the efforts put into
education be richly rewarded. As we move forward, challenges will undoubtedly arise. Let us keep our
lines of communication open and persevere until we achieve success.
It has been my honor to serve Nilsen College for the past ten years, since I joined in 2015. This is my f
inal opportunity to pen this report for the Computer Department, and I am grateful for the support an
d dedication of everyone involved. I also welcome, our new teacher-in-charge to the computer departm
