This year the Oakwood Dramatic Society gave ”The Importance of Being Earnest/’ a famous play by Oscar Wilde in which many confusions and tense situations arise from the one small name, Earnest. Because of the smooth and unstrained acting the audience
remained engrossed and in suspense to the end when all turned out satisfactorily. The comic element was put over very effectively, and some of the scenes might have been acted by Clark Gable and Norma Shearer themselves. Clever garden sets quite trans formed the stage and lent atmosphere to the performance.
